Loula Social is the new project from Orelia jewellery’s founder Louisa Hirst
Louisa was keen to start a new business, which fed her soul. After a tricky couple of years and becoming a single mama, she had to step away from Orelia to be around for the kids, but having starting a business from scratch once before she wanted to find something she could start again from her kitchen table! As fate had it She stumbled across this first collaboration on a visit to Tulum in Mexico in early 2018.
COLORSXGOOD really struck a chord; this incredible project set up in The Yucatán in Mexico is all about giving back and women’s empowerment. Their founders mission is to change the world one bracelet at a time. The socially responsible production model empowers the women who make the bracelets by giving them employment in a community that women have never historically worked, this not only gives them much needed income- they are paid 4 times the national minimum wage, but the way they are perceived by their husbands, children and community gives them a new found sense of being.
The wellbeing and education of the team of women now working at colorsxgood are met by English lessons as part of the working day, fully flexible working day so they can work around their children, they even have yoga lessons on the beach and are being educated about ecology in this beautiful but changing fishing community
As for our wonderful customers who are buying the bracelets here, they benefit too, It is such a simple concept~ raising your vibe by wearing a coloured wristband, but it works. The science of colour has proven that colours emit different vibrations. Humans do have an emotional response to colour and with the messages on each card, they give you a gentle reminder to be patient, stay strong, be calm or I’m loved.
Louisa has big plans for the future, harnessing the power of community to do good. Watch this space!
and thank you
